Rewriting in the Passive Voice 

  • Step 1: Find the subject

  • Step 2: Identify the verb

  • Step 3: Identify the tense


Example 1: My teacher drove the car. 


  • Subject: My teacher

  • Verb: Drove

  • Tense: Past


Passive Voice: The car was driven by my teacher. 



Example 2: My teacher drives the car.


  • Subject: My teacher

  • Verb: Drives

  • Tense: Present

Passive Voice: The car is driven by my teacher.



Rewrite the following in the passive voice.

1. Jason watches Batman every day. 

2. My mother cooks the best macaroni pie. 

3. We understand the lesson. 

4. The students complete the difficult homework. 

5. The chef prepares a delicious meal 

6. The old lady walked the long road. 

7. The talented batsman struck the cricket ball. 

8. The technician repaired the damaged printer. 

9. Teriq walks the dog. 

10. We see the show. 

11. Rihanna sings that song. 

12. I bake the chocolate cake. 



Ratio

  1.  $80 is to be divided between Alex and David in the ratio 5 : 11. How much does each get?











2. A line is 250cm long is to be divided into 3 parts in the ratio 2:3. Find the length (in cm) of each part.



3. A large bag of flour weighs 80kg. It must be divided in the ratio 7:3. Calculate the size of each portion.




4. Mrs. Greene makes $1600 each month. She shares it between her two children in the ratio 5:3. How much money does each child get?



5. Find the larger share when $650 is divided in the ratio 7:3.




6. A kennel has 35 dogs in total, some are puppies and some are adult dogs. The ratio of puppies to adult dogs in a kennel is 3 : 2. How many adult dogs are there?



7. A jar cranberry beans and mung beans in a ratio of 7 : 5, and 770 of the beans are cranberry beans. How many beans in total are there in the jar?


8. Divide 432 into three parts that are in the ratio 1 : 2 : 3. 

9.  Divide 80 into three parts that are in the ratio 1 : 3 : 4.

10. Share $300 so that Kayla gets twice as much as her sister. How much would each girl get?
