Key Words in the story:

  • nervously

Amelia stood nervously at the front of the class. Her hands even trembled a little. It was her turn to read her composition to the class. Amelia absolutely disliked speaking in front of the class.

"Go ahead, Amelia," her teacher said. Amelia's voice was barely a whisper as she struggled to read the composition she had written. She had written a fun story about a puppy who was lost in a strange neighbourhood. Amelia's classmates even laughed a little when she read the part of the story where the puppy wagged his tail at the children in the story. Soon, Amelia was feeling more comfortable as she continued her reading.

As she reached the end of the composition, her classmates smiled and clapped loudly for her. They knew she had tried very hard. "That was amazing!" Kelly told Amelia. Kelly was Amelia's best friend and they loved to encourage each other to do well.

Amelia was very proud of herself because she had overcome her fear of speaking in front of the class. On top of that, her teacher, Mrs. Green, told the class that Amelia had scored an A on the composition. This was one of the happiest days for Amelia.
