Mathematics - Fractions, Decimals, Percentages


1. There are 200 sweets in a jar. Lucy takes 3/10 of the sweets. Alice takes 50% of the sweets.

a. How many does each child have? 

b. How many are left in the jar?

c. What percentage is this?


2-10. Write each of the following as fractions 










3. A monkey had 60 peaches. He ate 3/4 of them. 

a. How many peaches were remaining?

b. Of the remainder, 1/5 were rotten. How many peaches were rotten?


4-7. Draw and complete the table:












8.  Out of a class of 150, one-third opted to do P.E, two-fifths for Spanish and rest for French. Find how many opted for French?

Tourism Tourism means people travelling to places outside of their usual home.  A tourist is anyone traveling for fun, business or visiting relatives. A tourist must stay at least 24 hours but for less than one year. There are different types of tourists. First, a domestic tourist is a person who spends at least one night away from their normal home but still within their own country. Some people call this a ‘staycation’.  Then, there are regional tourists. This is a tourist who travels within a certain region. For example, a Barbadian visiting Jamaica.  Suppose you really wanted to visit New York and see the Statue of Liberty. Then you would be an international tourist. An international tourist is someone who travels across international borders. For example, travelling from Barbados to the United States.  Tourism is great because it creates many jobs for people who work in hotels.
