Week 1 - Narrative / Descriptive Writing


Narrative writing refers to descriptive story writing. Your story should be clear and creative. 

A narrative must include:


  • Setting (Use your senses to describe what you see, hear, feel, smell, taste)

  • Characters (Who is in the story? Describe their looks and behaviour)

  • Conflict (What goes wrong in the story?)

  • Solution (How is the conflict resolved?)


Also, when writing a narrative, use the following to bring your story to life:

  • Use similes, metaphors and personification 

    • (e.g) The sun was as hot as fire

    • (e,g) The touch of the wind caused the leaves to dance happily in the trees

  • Use dialogue where necessary



Write a descriptive paragraph based on the images below.
