Defusing an Angry Customer - Turning Anger into AdvocacyWriting a letter of complaint.

Scenario: On Thursday, August 27, 2020, I went to a store to buy a pair of Bluetooth headphones. By the time I took them home, they worked for one day and then stopped working completely. When I tried to return them to the store, the clerk refused to accept them or refund my money. Here is the letter of complaint that I wrote to the company.

Dear Sir,

My name is Devon Browne and I am writing to inform you about a disappointing experience which I had recently at your store.

On Thursday, August 27, 2020, I bought a pair of blue Samsung Bluetooth Headphones from your store in Bridgetown. I paid $78.00 for them. When I took them home, they worked at first but quickly died. Thinking that the battery just needed to be charged, I plugged them in but they never turned back on.

The following day, I returned to the store to explain that the headphones were not working and ask for a refund. The store clerk was quite rude and implied that I had probably damage the headphones.

As a loyal customer for the past few years, I was very disappointed with the type of treatment I received and the quality of the product which I was sold. Once again, I am asking for a complete refund. Otherwise, I see no other choice except to involve the media and I really do not want to do that.

Thank you in advance for your assistance and consideration in this matter.

Regards,

Devon Browne
